STILLWATER, Okla. — No. 14 West Virginia Mountaineers will look to bounce back from their last defeat when they travel to face the Oklahoma State Cowboys here in Stillwater on Monday.

West Virginia was edged out by Oklahoma, 75-71, in a shootout with the Sooners on Saturday and the travelers will be hoping to get back on track with a victory while they are still in the South Central region.

The Mountaineers (8-3, 1-2 Big 12) had also lost to No. 3 Kansas in conference play.

Meanwhile, for Oklahoma State (7-2, 1-2), it is coming off a close victory in the last outing after holding on to beat No. 13 Texas Tech 82-77 in a road game on Saturday.

Bryce Williams, getting his first start for Oklahoma State, scored 15 points in the win for Cowboys, who used the victory to snap a two-game losing streak.

West Virginia will be the third successive ranked opponent for Oklahoma State in recent days with the Cowboys splitting the previous meetings 1-1.

In the meantime, Monday’s Big 12 matchup will give the Mountaineers another chance to prove that they are talented enough to play with the big boys in the league, with dates against No. 8 Texas at home and away to No. 2 Baylor to follow.

NBA prospect and talented freshman Cade Cunningham is leading Oklahoma this season with 18.4 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game, while Isaac Likekele is averaging 8.1 rebounds and 10.9 points.

Cunningham has also connected on 36.4 percent of the 33 3-point shots he has taken and is shooting 43.4% from the field.

Miles McBride averages 14.8 points, 4.1 assists and 1.8 steals per game for West Virginia entering this game.

Derek Culver is putting out 13.0 points and 9.5 rebounds, Taz Sherman is scoring 11.3 points and Sean McNeil is averaging 10.3 points per game for the visiting Mountaineers.
