DURHAM, N.C. (Sporting Alert, Box Score) — Jahlil Okafor scored a season-high 27 points to lead Duke to an 86-69 victory over Toledo at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Monday night.

The star freshman center, who shot 12 of 15 from the field, also grabbed eight rebounds on the night as the No. 2 Blue Devils improved to 11-0 for the 11th time under coach Mike Krzyzewski.

“They said they were planning on playing me man-to-man coverage, and the coaches informed me of that, and my teammates prepared me to dominate early,” Okafor was quoted as saying.

Senior guard Quinn Cook added a season-best 20 on 50-percent shooting from the field, while freshman point guard Tyus Jones ended with 15 points, eight assists, four rebounds and two steals for Duke, which improved its winning streak against non-conference opponents at Cameron Indoor Stadium to 115, which is an NCAA-best.

“We grew up,” Krzyzewski said. “Our young guys are obviously very good, but they’re not experienced, and you don’t win just by being young and good. You’ve got to get experience.”

Four Toledo players scored in double figures in the defeat.

Julius Brown scored 19 points and four assists, while J.D. Weatherspoon and Justin Drummond each had 14 points, with Weatherspoon adding eight rebounds as well for the Rockets (7-5), who dropped to 2-4 on the road and had its five-game winning streak snapped.

Jonathan Williams collected 10 points for Toledo, who shot 47.5 percent from the field.

The Blue Devils rushed off to an 18-4 brisk start before the Rockets came back to cut the lead to four as Duke went into the halftime break with a 41-37 advantage.

The hosts eventually pulled away with a 21-9 run in the second half en route to sealing their 11th straight double-digit win for the first time in program history.

Duke will be back on the court again at home against Wofford on Wednesday, while Toledo will be at Northern Kentucky on Saturday.
