2015 Carifta Games Final Medal Standings

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS (Sporting Alert) — Following is the final medal standings from the 44th Carifta Games at the Kim Collins Track and Field Stadium in Basseterre, St Kitts.

The four day championships saw Caribbean powerhouses Jamaica dominating the medal count once again — finishing with 41 Gold, 25 Silver and 19 Bronze for a combined total 85 medals.

Jamaica dominated Monday’s final day, include sweeping the 4x400m relays for all the age category to setup the one-sided competition for yet another year.

The defending champions, who collected a record haul of 88 medals during the 2014 Carifta Games, finished these Games with 54 more medals than the team that finished behind them, while bagging 41 of the 68 possible gold medals that were up for the taking.

Finishing second in the medal standings were the Bahamas and they finished with a total of 31 medals — 8 Gold, 13 Silver and 10 Bronze.

The top five finishers were completed by Barbados, who had 7 Gold, 4 Silver and 5 Bronze for a total of 16, Trinidad and Tobago ended with 22 medals, 6 Gold, 8 Silver and 8 Bronze, while Grenada collected 1 Gold, 3 Silver and 4 Bronze.

Host nation St.Kitts and Nevis won nine medals, which included 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 6 Bronze.

A total of 21 countries won at least one medal at the 2015 Carifta Games, with nine of these winning at least one gold medal.
