MOSCOW (Sporting Alert) — Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko lead the Manchester City attack in tonight’s Champions League Group E claus with CSKA Moscow at the Arena Khimki.
Aguero comes into this game on good form, following his four goal performance in the English Premier League victory over Tottenham over the weekend.
The Argentine international played as the lone forward in that game, but will tonight, inside this empty stadium, link up with Dzeko in the attack.
Pablo Zabaleta, Eliaquim Mangala and Aleksandar Kolarov joins Vincent Kompany in an adjusted back four from the last outing, while James Milner also starts in midfield for the visitors.
Yaya Touré returns in midfield for Man City and his manager is backing him to be the difference.
“Yaya [Touré] has the quality to make a difference,” City boss Manuel Pellegrini said ahead of the clash. “He had a difficult summer, but every game he is getting better, such as against Aston Villa recently when he decided the outcome.
“He can play in different positions, at second striker or in the centre of midfield.”
Jesus Navas is dropped to the bench and he is joined by Gael Clichy and Martin Demichelis, with Stevan Jovetic, Bacary Sagna and Fernandinho also there as well.
Former Manchester United midfielder Zoran Tosic is amongst the highlighted starters for CSKA Moscow, who will hoping to get off the mark in the points column tonight.
“Manchester City have been and remain favourites not only for our group but also the Champions League,” said CSKA coach Leonid Slutski. “And the fact that they have not won in the group does not mean anything.”
