AUSTIN, Texas (10 December) —— Top-seed Texas beat No. 3-seeded Ohio State Buckeyes 3-1 on Saturday evening in the NCAA Regional Finals at the Gregory Gymnasium to advance to the 2022 National Semifinal in Omaha, Nebraska, next week. BOX SCORE (PDF)
The Longhorns (26-1, 15-1 Big 12) are the No. 1 overall seed at this year’s tournament and they advanced to the Final Four with a 25-18, 21-25, 25-13, 25-21 four-set victory. The win this weekend saw Texas advancing to the national semifinals for the 10th time in the last 15 seasons.
The Longhorns endured a very competitive first part of the early in the opening game before using an 8-1 run midway through the set to secure a 25-18 first set win. Ohio State (22-10, 15-5 B1G) responded, though, to earn a 25-21 set win in the second game and even the match at one.

Logan Eggleston finished with a game-high 20 kills to go with nine digs for Texas. Madisen Skinner had 13 kills, while Saige Ka’aha’aina-Torres finished with 40 assists and Zoe Fleck had 18 digs for the Longhorns who finished with 51 total kills versus Ohio State’s 42 team total.
Emily Londot had 14 kills with seven digs for the Buckeyes, while Gabby Gonzales finished with 10 kills and eight digs in the defeat. Mac Podraza recorded her 4000th career assist, while earning her 12th double-double of the season when recording 36 assists and 10 digs for Ohio State.
Tonight, Texas was totally dominant at the net, collecting 16 total blocks, including eight in the commanding third set win.
Eggleston was named the Austin Regional Most Outstanding Player and was one of the three Texas players named to the all regional team.
