Headlining the list of changes is forward Thomas Muller, who is back in the starting line-up after Guardiola shockingly left the German World Cup winner out of his starting team in Spain last week.

Muller comes into the side to replace Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara, and he is expected to join Robert Lewandowski in leading the attacking line for the Bundesliga champions at Allianz Arena.

Alcantara is on the bench and could still play a part in the game.

Defender Jerome Boateng also comes into the setup for Bernat, who is not in the match day squad, while Franck Ribery is preferred over Kingsley Coman to play on the flank, as Guardiola looks to play attacking football.

Xabi Alonso, Douglas Costa, Arturo Vidal, Philipp Lahm and Javi Martinez and David Alaba all kept their places in starting line-up.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid have been handed a massive boost for this game with defender Diego Godin passing fit to return at centre-half after injury.

The experienced Uruguay international comes in as a replacement former Manchester City center-back Stefan Savic.

A rejuvenated Fernando Torres will join the on form Antoine Griezmann in the attack and Bayern Munich will need to be on the alert if they are to avoid being upset another Spanish side.

According to Opta Stats, “Bayern Munich have kept only one clean sheet in their five CL knockout games in 2015/16,” while “Atletico Madrid have kept 15 clean sheets in their last 20 #UCL games, including 4 in 5 knockout games this season.”
