FORT LAUDERDALE, FL, Sporting Alert – College basketball games streaming live on ESPN 3 on Wednesday, November 18. You can also follow the AP top 25 scores and updates live on the day.
No. 1 North Carolina will take on Wofford in the CBE Hall of Fame Classic at Dean E. Smith Center in Chapel Hill on the night, with the game streaming live on ESPN 3 and WatchESPN at 7:00 ET p.m.
The Tar Heels (2-0) have won its two opening games of the season after beating Temple and Fairfield with star guard Marcus Paige still on the sidelines due to injury.
With Paige out, junior forward Kennedy Meeks has been leading the team in scoring and rebounds per game, while shooting 65.0 percent from the floor.
Heading into the clash with Wofford, Meeks is scoring 16.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game, while the team overall is averaging 91.5 points per game, allowing 66.0 and shooting 50.4 percent from its opening two fixtures.
North Carolina, which wasn’t quite as impressive as coach Roy Williams would have liked in the last outing, starts as a 21-point favourite to beat the Terriers (0-1) who dropped its season opener.
Wofford fell 83-74 to Missouri in their opening game, with freshman Fletcher Magee being the brightest spark after scoring 22 points in the defeat.
Justin Gordon scored 19 points and two others reached double figures as well.
Wofford’s coach Mike Young was disappointed with his team giving up 83 points against Missouri.
He called the defensive display “unacceptable.”
“To give up 83 points is unacceptable,” said Young. “We could never quite get that one stop or one flurry that would have really made it interesting.”
It could be a long night for the Terriers, who are 0-22 when coming up against Top 25 opponents since joining Division I in 1995.
This will be the third time North Carolina and Wofford will be battling, with the latter winning the previous two games – the last in which came back in 1926.
Another college basketball top 25 team in action live on ESPN 3 on Wednesday night is No. 21 Purdue and they will matchup against Incarnate Word at Mackey Arena.
