Sporting Alert – College basketball coverage continues on Wednesday with another strong list that includes top 25 ranked teams Maryland, Duke and Villanova.

No. 3 Maryland (13-1, 8-0 Home) will put its undefeated home record on the line against Rutgers (6-9, 0-3 Away).

The Terrapins go in search of their eighth straight victory and will be led by Melo Trimble and talented freshman center Diamond Stone. Trimble is averaging 15.1 points, six rebounds and 1.6 steals per game, and shooting 48.5 percent, while Stone, who is coming off a solid performance against Penn State in a 70-64 win, is shooting 59.5 percent from the floor this season.

Corey Sanders will lead Rutgers on their travel, as it seeks to stop a three-game bleed after losing to Wisconsin and Indiana.

Maryland leads this all-time series 5-3 record, including three straight wins in the series.

No. 14 Duke (12-2) will take a three-game win streak into their clash with Wake Forest.

Freshman Brandon Ingram comes into this game on good form, having scored 25 points and nine boards against Boston College for the Blue Devils in an 81-64 victory in their ACC openers.

He’s also scored in double figures in the last seven games for Duke.

Guard Grayson Allen is averaging 20.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game this season, but is averaging 25 points per game in the last two games.
