Action from groups A to D took place on the night with big wins coming for Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Paris Saint Germain and Olympiakos.
“I’m happy to come here against a big, big club and play like this,” Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola said after the win. “We are so so happy because we have six points and it’s a big step forward.”
Manuel Pellegrini added: “We played very bad and Bayern made a great game. We made some big errors for their goals.
“We were playing in a different way, they had possession of the ball and I didn’t think we could make the change.”
The top goalscorer on the night was Konstantinos Mitroglou, who scored a hat trick in Olympiakos’ 3-0 thrashing of Anderlecht on the road. Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic each scored twice for Real Madrid and PSG, who beat Copenhagen and Benfica, by 4-0 and 3-0 respectively.
