MIAMI, FL, Sporting Alert – The Duke Blue Devils men’s college basketball team stayed No. 1 in the AP Top 25 rankings on Monday, but Kansas tumbled in the Week 2 poll.
Duke (2-0) received 58 of the 65 first-place votes from the national media panel on Monday after crushing a couple of unranked teams to open its season.

The Blue Devils, who are still without three of their best freshmen, collected 1,613 points.
Coming in at No. 2 this week is Kentucky, which received one vote for first place for 1,508pts.
Defending national champion Villanova received five first-place votes and jumped one place to No. 3 this week – replacing Kansas, which lost to Indiana in overtime on Friday, and was one of three AP Top 25 teams to lose in last week’s fixtures.
Oregon and North Carolina both advanced one spot to No. 4 and No. 5, while Indiana jumped five places to No. 6 in this week’s rankings
The Hoosiers, who collected 1,322 points and will face UMass Lowell on Nov 16, and Liberty on Nov 19, received the other first-place vote.
Kansas, which takes on Duke on Tuesday, and Siena on Nov 18, dropped four spots to seventh, while Virginia, Wisconsin and Arizona round out the top 10.
Xavier slipped four places to No. 11, with Louisville moving up one spot to No. 12, Michigan State sitting at No. 13, Gonzaga holding down 14th and Purdue staying at 15th.
UCLA, Saint Mary’s, Syracuse, West Virginia and Iowa State are 16 through 20, while Cincinnati and California are the newcomers in the first regular-season poll, at No. 24 and No. 25.
Connecticut (18) and Maryland 25 dropped from the AP Top 25 rankings in Week 2.
