English League Cup Semi-final draw; Man United, Man City kept apart

LONDON (Sporting Alert) — Manchester United and Manchester City were kept apart in the semis of the English League Cup, following the draw after the last set of games on Wednesday night.

Manchester City, who cruised into the semi-finals with an easy 3-1 win over Leicester City F.C. on Tuesday night, has been drawn against West Ham United, who knocked out Tottenham on Wednesday night.

Manchester United, after beating Stoke City in their quarterfinal at Britannia Stadium, will play Sunderland in the next semis.

Sunderland defeated Chelsea in their game.

The first set of semi-finals are on January 6, with the return legs playing on January 20.

“I’m glad we’re through,” Man United boss David Moyes said. “It will be a tough semi-final against Sunderland.

“Sunderland played well to beat Chelsea so anything can happen but we are really pleased to be in the last four.”
