LONDON (Sporting Alert) — The following are the halftime scores in the English Premier League on Saturday, Jan 31.

Manchester United, Tottenham, Stoke and Everton, are all amongst the early leaders after the opening 45 minutes of play around the country.

Robin van Persie, Radamel Falcao and an own goal from Wes Morgan have given Manchester United a comfortable 3-0 against Leicester City at Old Trafford as the hosts look to keep tabs on a Champions League place.

Louis van Gaal side dominated the early play and went into the interval with 72% of the possession compared to Leicester City’s 28%.

Romelu Lukaku’s second minute strike has given Everton a 1-0 lead over Crystal Palace on the road, while Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane have each netted for Tottenham in their 2-0 halftime lead at West Brom.

Elsewhere in the English Premier League at halftime, Stoke City leads QPR 2-1, with Jonathan Walters finding the back of the net for both goals. Niko Kranjcar is the goalscorer so far for QPR, who are fighting relegation.

Connor Wickham and Jermain Defoe have both scored for Sunderland to take a 2-0 lead into halftime against Burnley, but there were no goals at Anfield between Liverpool and West Ham United.

Earlier Newcastle United hammered Hull City 3-0 to join Swansea City on 30pts in the EPL standings and newly appointed winning manager John Carver was delighted with the final outcome.

“It was very emotional at the end when I went over to fans. Not so long ago i was one of them and now I am in charge of this club,” Carver told reporters.

“It was a good away performance and there was not great deal between both side. I can take the pressure and deal with it and let the players go and express themselves.

“Bobby Robson told me – if ever you get the opportunity don’t be afraid of it and take it with both hands.”
