English Premier League Scores; Leicester Go Top On Dec. 19

English Premier League: Tottenham

LONDON, Sporting Alert – Results from Saturday’s English Premier League games, as Leicester City go top and Manchester United lose to Norwich City at home.

The remarkable run of Leicester City in the English Premier League extended on Saturday after the Foxes took down Everton 3-2 at Goodison Park to go five points clear of Arsenal at the top EPL standings.

A brace from the penalty spot by Riyad Mahrez on either side of 45 minutes pushed Claudio Ranieri’s side out to 38 points and firmly in the driver’s seat, as second place Arsenal doesn’t play until Monday when they face off with Manchester City.

Mahrez grabbed his goals from the spot in the 27th and 65th minutes, while Shinji Okazaki added another in the 69th for Leicester City, who won three games in a row.

Former Manchester City defender Danny Mills said on BBC Final Score: “[Robert] Huth was missing today for Leicester, which could have been big. But Mahrez is the real deal, and I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the big teams, even big teams on the continent, come in for him in January.”

Romelu Lukaku tied the game in the 32nd minute at 1-1 and Kevin Mirallas had a late goal for Everton in the defeat.

Meanwhile, Tottenham moved into the top four of the EPL standings after dismissing Southampton 2-0 at St. Mary’s Stadium

First half goals from Harry Kane, who netted brilliantly from a solo run in the 40th minute and Dele Alli, who took advantage of some poor Saints defending in the 43rd minute.

The victory on the road on Saturday means Tottenham frog leaped Manchester United into fourth place.

At Old Trafford, Louis van Gaal fell into deeper pressure as the Red Devils shockingly suffered a 2-1 defeat to Norwich City, which had been in the bottom three at kick-off time.
