English Premier League Standings – Aug 20

LONDON (Sporting Alert) — Manchester City leads the Barclays Premier League table standings after the opening week after beating Newcastle United 4-0 at the Etiham Stadium on Monday night.

The result sees Manuel Pellegrini side move on top of the EPL standings on goal difference, with defending champion Manchester United, Aston Villa, Chelsea and West Ham United making up the top five on goals scored and conceded.

Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea side will be in action again on Wednesday night against Aston Villa and will go top with a victory or draw, the same goes for Paul Lambert’s team.

After picking up three points from their season openers were Liverpool, Southampton, Tottenham and Fulham.

Newcastle United and Swansea City, who both conceded four goals in their opener currently sit at the bottom.

Arsenal also suffered an season opening defeat.
