English Premier League standings, results on Jan. 13

LONDON (Sporting Alert) — Arsenal moved back to the top of the English Premier League standings with a 2-1 win over Aston Villa on Monday. Here are the results and standings following the EPL matches played on Jan. 13.

Arsenal returned to the top of the league with 48 points, one more than Manchester City, after Jack Wilshere and Olivier Giroud scored one minute apart.

“We’ve just got to take each game as it comes, we know we’re top of the league,” Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere told Sky Sports 1.

“We’ve had a game every three days up to now and now we’ve got a week off so it’s important we get our rest in.”

Chelsea sits at third with 46pts, while Liverpool returns to the top four with a thrilling 5-3 victory at Stoke City on Sunday.

At the other end, Crystal Palace remains bottom of the pile with 17 points, the same as Sunderland and one less than Cardiff City.
