Cardiff City defended like warriors for 88 minutes until substitute Nicklas Bendtner broke their hearts when he pounced on a loose ball to fire past David Marshall in the goal from close range.

It was a bitter-sweet moment for however, for Bendtner, who picked up an injury in the process and had to be subbed back off the field.

Theo Walcott kept up his goalscoring form since returning from injury with another strike in time added on, much to the delight of manager Arsene Wenger.

Arsenal played without Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud who were all injured.
