The Manchester United boss has also handed EPL first-team debuts to defender Tyler Blackett and, of course, Ander Herrera, as the Red Devils look to start the season with a win.

Blackett partners Phil Jones and Chris Smalling in the back three, with Lingard and Ashley Young starting as the wing backs.

Darren Fletcher and Ander Herrera start centrally, with Juan Mata supporting the forwards.

Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez start in the attack, as Robin van Persie still out to work on his fitness and Danny Welbeck still recovering from an injury.

Adnan Januzaj, Nani, Shinji Kagawa, Marouane Fellaini and Reece James are amongst the substitutes.

Meanwhile, Swansea City have handed a debut to goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski, while midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson has also been handed a starting place, following his return from Tottenham.

Manchester United: De Gea, Jones, Smalling, Blackett, Lingard, Fletcher, Herrera, Young, Mata, Rooney (C), Hernandez. Subs: Amos, M Keane, James, Fellaini, Kagawa, Januzaj, Nani.

Swansea City: Fabianski, Rangel, Amat, Williams (C), Taylor, Ki, Shelvey, Dyer, Sigurdsson, Routledge, Bony. Subs: Tremmel, Bartley, Richards, Tiendalli, Montero, Sheehan, Gomis.
