ESPN College Football Power Rankings Week 12: Nov. 15

KANSAS, Sporting Alert – LSU slipped 10 places in ESPN’S NCAA College Football Power Rankings after suffering another defeat over the weekend.

The Tigers were singled out first this week because they were the heaviest droppers in the rankings, while their season which started out with realistic hopes of playing in the college football playoff is slowly falling apart.

It was only two weeks ago LSU were sitting No. 4 in the NCAA College Football Power Rankings and receiving first-place votes.

How quickly things changed.

Back-to-back defeats to Alabama and Arkansas have left Les Miles’ side searching to find its real identity, with even star running back Leonard Fournette losing his way, as the SEC powerhouses fell 10 places to No. 19 in this week’s release.

The Tigers (7-2) who are averaging 33.0 points per game this season, struggled to tally that many in both defeats, while Fournette, who was running for at least 150 yards per game, could only put up 31 and 91 yards in the last two games, and is no longer the Heisman front-runner.

Also falling big this week was Stanford (8-2) which dropped eight places to No. 16 after losing 38-36 to Oregon in their Pac-12 rivalry game on Saturday.

Another Pac-12 side falling from grace over the weekend was Utah (8-2), which dropped six spots to No. 16 after a double-overtime loss to Arizona.

Baylor dropped six slots this week as well after Oklahoma handed the Bears their first loss of the season and likely killed the Texas-based side’s college football playoff hopes.

Meanwhile, Oregon’s (7-3) win over the Cardinal moved them eight places up this week – the biggest movers in the ESPN NCAA College Football Power Rankings. The Ducks are sitting No. 23.

As expected, Clemson, Alabama and Ohio State retained their respective top three spots in this week’s rankings, but Notre Dame replaced Baylor at No. 4 with the undefeated Oklahoma State (10-0) completing the top five.
