Top seed Serena Williams of USA will look to earn a place in the third round when she take on fellow American Vania King.
Williams cruised to a 6-3, 6-1 victory over American teen Taylor Townsend in Tuesday’s first round and she is looking forward to taking down another countrywoman at the tournament in her quest to win another U.S. Open title.
She faces King, who dumped former French Open champion Francesca Schiavone 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 in her first round match.
On the day too, men’s top seed Novak Djokovic of Serbia and Great Britain’s former champion Andy Murray will also be in action.
Djokovic plays France’s Paul-Henri Mathieu, while the eighth-seeded Murray will play Matthias Bachinger of Germany.
Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Milos Raonic, Kei Nishikori and John Isner are also down on the schedule.
Also in action on the women’s side is the third-seeded Petra Kvitova, the Wimbledon champion, who faces Petra Cetkovska, Canadian seventh-seeded Eugenie Bouchard take on Sorana Cirstea, while No. 8 Ana Ivanovic battle with Karolina Pliskova.
Teenager CiCi Bellis, 15, will be hoping to progress to the third round when she face-off with Zarina Diyas.
