LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Sporting Alert) — Jimmer Fredette scored 17 points and Luke Babbitt added 15 and the New Orleans Pelicans beat the Miami Heat 98-86 in a preseason game at KFC Yum! Center on Saturday night.
Star forward Anthony Davis, who was a member of the USA World Cup Basketball winning team earlier this summer, played only 11 minutes in the first half, but did finished with five points, four rebounds and three blocks in his limited outing.
Also in double figures for the Pelicans were Ryan Anderson, Russ Smith and Austin Rivers, who all contributed 12 points apiece in the win.
James Ennis led Miami Heat with 17 points and six rebounds, but Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade accounted for 15 combined after going five for 20 from the field.
Bosh went 3 for 13 and Wade, 2 of 7.
Danny Granger and Shawne Williams had 12 points each for the Miami Heat, which went just 5-15 from behind the arc in the defeat.
Luol Deng shot 2 for 7 for Miami in its first preseason game.
