With several senior players of his usual squad unavailable because of club duties with Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund, who are still in Cup finals this weekend, Low has been forced to go with a less then experienced side for the game in Mainz.

This, though, sees the likes of Max Meyer, Shkodran Mustafi, Leon Goretzka, Christian Gunter, Andre Hahn and Kevin Volland, all pushing for starting places as they seek to impress the boss before he picks his final squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals in Brazil.

“I can’t wait for the game,” Hoffenheim forward Volland, who scored 11 Bundesliga goals this season. said. “It’s important that I give a good impression of myself.

“I’m going to really enjoy it against Poland. I’ve got nothing to lose and so I’ll give it everything.

“My batteries are fully charged and I feel I’ve taken a big step forwards this season.”
