Liverpool picked up wins over Tranmere Rovers (1-0), Fleetwood Town (5-0) and Wigan Athletic (2-0) in its three games so far, scoring eight goals and yet to concede at the defensive end.

Like Liverpool, Huddersfield Town also boasts a perfect pre-season record this summer – winning all four of its matches and conceded just one goal.

The Championship side has also netted nine goals, with six of them coming at home.

“Playing against a Championship team in a pre-season game is really difficult because they are really hot,” said Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

“They are greedy, they are ambitious and sometimes, maybe sometimes, it’s one of the best games in their whole year – so no big pressure and only opportunity.

“It will be difficult, 100 per cent. We have a long day on Wednesday because we fly to the USA after the game for our tour.

“It’s not easy for us but at the end of the day I want difficult situations in the pre-season.

“I know a few players in the Huddersfield team because they have brought in a few Germans. They are a really good team, for sure, and it’s a good challenge for us.”

Meanwhile, Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner, who reportedly is a good friend of Klopp, believes the clash with the Premiership side will play a big part in his side’s preparations for the new season.

“We have to make sure it’s a good game, it’s an important match but only one step in our pre-season,” Wagner said on the club’s official website.

“….Everybody will be able to perform in front of our home supporters.

“It’s important to feel the crowd, this is good pre-preparation and what pre-season is for. ”

Wednesday’s friendly encounter against The Terriers is the fourth of nine pre-season games for Liverpool, as they prepare for the 2016-17 Premier League campaign.

Live and exclusively streaming will be on LFCTV and LFCTV GO starting from 7.15pm BST, which is 2:45pm ET. Visit: liverpoolfc.com/watch for live streaming information. Follow livescores at www.livescore.com.
