(Sporting Alert) — Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has been listed as active and will play against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, despite being doubtful following the death of his son.
The Vikings left the deciding up to Peterson and the seven-year pro has opted to feature, two days after the death of his 2-year-old son.
His son died from injuries he sustained in an alleged assault by the boyfriend of the child’s mother, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports.
Peterson has tallied 421 yards and has five touchdowns so far this season.
Meanwhile, Detroit Lions have listed wide receiver Calvin Johnson as active for today’s contest with the Cleveland Browns.
Johnson, who starts today, had missed the Lions’ defeat to the Green Bay Packers in Week 5 because of a right knee injury.
Elsewhere, defensive backs Jairus Byrd and Stephon Gilmore and running back C.J. Spiller are all listed as active for the Buffalo Bills against the Cincinnati Bengals, but wide receiver Stevie Johnson, who is carrying a back problem, which forced him to missed practice all week, is inactive.
