JAAA Senior Trials 2016 Schedule, Event Times

KINGSTON, Sporting Alert – The following is the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association – JAAA Senior Trials 2016 Schedule, which is to be used to select the team for the Rio Olympic Games later this summer.

The championships will get underway on Thursday, June 1 at 10:00 a.m. CT with the qualifying round of the men’s 100 metres, which will not include the likes of Usain, Asafa Powell, Yohan Blake, Kemar Cole-Bailey and Nickel Ashmeade, among other top sprinters.

Action in the heats will come first from the women’s 400M hurdles at 6:05 p.m., which will be followed by the men’s event at 6:20 p.m.

Bolt and the big guns will grace the track for the quarter-final heats of the men’s 100m, with those posting the fastest times from the qualifying round also joining the rest of the top seeds.

The women’s 100m heats will also be on the first day of competition, where the likes of Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Elaine Thompson and Veronica Campbell-Brown will lineup.

World record holder Bolt will be hoping to secure his spot on the Jamaica team, as he seeks to not only retain his sprint double title, but to secure an historic triple set of treble at the Olympic Games.

His countrywoman Fraser-Pryce will be attempting to win a third successive women’s 100m title, following back-to-back wins at the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Games.

The Jamaica National Championships conclude on Sunday, July 3.
