MIAMI, FL — NBA scores and results from the games that took place around the league on Friday night, January 27.

CAVALIERS 124, NETS 116

CLEVELAND — LeBron James scored 31 points in a double-double performance and the Cleveland Cavaliers bounced back with a 124-116 victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Friday night.

James, who shot 13-of-18 from the floor also had 11 assists and five rebounds for the Cavaliers (31-14), who snapped a three-game losing against the NBA team with the worst record this season.

Kyrie Irving shot 10-of-17 from the field for 28 points and had six assists and four rebounds, while Kyle Korver scored 14 points off the bench, Kevin Love finished with 13 points and 14 rebounds and Tristan Thompson ended with 10 points and 10 boards in the win for the Cavs.

Sean Kilpatrick led the Nets with 18 points off the bench with Bojan Bogdanovic adding 17.

Randy Foye had 16 points, eight rebounds and five assists and Isaiah Whitehead scored 16 in the defeat for Brooklyn, which was without leading scorer Brook Lopez, who was rested and leading rebounder Trevor Booker (illness).

The Cavaliers led 94-73 heading into the fourth quarter but were outscored 43-30 by Brooklyn,

However, the early deficit was too much for the visitors to erase.

The latest defeat now sees the Nets (9-37) dropping four straight and 15 of their last 16.

KNICKS 110, HORNETS 107

NEW YORK — At Madison Square Garden, Carmelo Anthony ignored the uncertainty surrounding his future by hitting a key mid-range jumper with 13 seconds left to help the New York Knicks beat the Charlotte Hornets 110-107 on Friday night.

Charlotte’s Nicolas Batum, who had 15 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists, made one of his three 3-pointers to pull the score to 107-105 with 35 seconds left.

However, Anthony made a jumper for two points to open back up the lead and the Knicks held on for the win.

The star forward who is the subject of a trade in recent days, finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Kristaps Porzingis scored 18 points and Courtney Lee added 16 for New York (21-27), which was rebounding from a 103-95 defeat at the Mavericks the last time out.

Point guard Derrick Rose scored 13 points before leaving the game with a sprained ankle in the third quarter, but head coach Jeff Hornacek says it’s nothing major.

Kemba Walker scored a game-high 31 points to lead the Hornets (23-24), who have lost three straight.
