Russell, the club announced in its team news, will start in the attack and will be partnered by another fellow summer signing Chris Martin. as the hosts look to start the new campaign on a positive note.

Also starting Derby County are Jamie Ward, Jeff Hendrick, Craig Bryson and Will Hughes.

Meanwhile, Adam Smith, who is on loan from English Premier League side Tottenham has been named on the substitutes’ bench.

Jordan Rhodes, Scott Dann, Josh King and Grant Hanley start for Blackburn Rovers, while Tom Cairney is on the bench.
