MANCHESTER, Sporting Alert – The two best strikers in the English Premier League will go head-to-head on Saturday when Manchester City and Chelsea battle at Etihad Stadium.
Diego Costa of Chelsea and Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero have both scored 10 goals each so far this season and they will be hoping to add to their respective tallies this weekend.
Aguero leads the Citizens’ attacking line with David Silva, Jesus Navas and Kevin De Bruyne supporting the Argentine international.
Manager Pep Guardiola has also decided to make a change in his formation, opting to go with three at the back with Nicolas Otamendi, John Stones and Aleksandar Kolarov starting in front of goalkeeper Claudio Bravo.
There are starting places in midfield for Leroy Sane, IIkay Gundogan and Fernandinho, with the likes of Yaya Toure, Bacary Sagna, Pablo Zabaleta, Fernando and Gael Clichy only on the bench.
There is no Raheem Sterling today for Manchester City.
Meanwhile, Chelsea manager Antonio Conte makes one change to their starting lineup, as the injured Nemanja Matic is replaced in midfield by Cesc Fabregas.
Fabregas, who makes his first appearance since Sept. 24, will feature alongside N’Golo Kante in the central area of the pitch, while Costa will lead the attacking line with Pedro and Eden Hazard supporting him.
Besides scoring 10 goals, Costa also has four assists this campaign.
Cesar Azpilicueta, Gary Cahill, David Luiz, Victor Moses and Marcos Alonso also start for the Blues.
Branislav Ivanovic, Oscar, Willian and Michy Batshuayi are among the substitute.
Chelsea lead the English Premier League points standings with 31 points, while Manchester City are sitting third in the EPL.
“It’s a real big test for both managers and teams of course, but certainly for this Chelsea system,” Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher said ahead of the upcoming battle.
“I think Chelsea could have a couple of issues this season if they don’t get the service to the front two. I’m edging towards City to win this,” fellow Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas added.
