The England midfielder comes into the starting XI as a replacement for Mesut Ozil, as Arsenal look to go back to the top of the English Premier League table standings.

Also coming back are defender Laurent Koscielny and midfielders Mathieu Flamini and Tomas Rosicky, with Mikel Arteta starting on the bench and Thomas Vermaelen, who is sick misses out altogether as Arsene Wenger makes four changes from the team that beat West Ham 3-1 in the last outing.

Meanwhile, Cheick Tiote is back in midfield for Newcastle United after returning from suspension and he replaces Hatem Ben Arfa, who drops to the bench.
