Manchester United picked up a 2-1 victory on the day to end the preseason undefeated after winning every game on their tour of the United States earlier in the summer.

Darren Fletcher opened the scoring for Manchester United after finishing off a corner kick by Ashley Young in the 49th minute.

However, Valencia pulled a goal back, after a missed time clearance from a Tom Cleverley fell right to Rodrigo De Paul, who smashed home past David de Gea in the 71st minute.

Belgian World Cup star Fellaini, who has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer, then found the winner after beating goalkeeper Diego Lopez to a Tyler Blackett cross, took it down smartly on his chest and then passed into an empty net with the final action of the game.

The goal brought a broad smile to the face of manager Louis van Gaal, who was managing his first game in charge of Manchester United at Old Trafford.
