Hernandez was a vital figure for the Red Devils under Sir Alex Ferguson, having won two Premier League titles with the club, but was shockingly sold two seasons ago by Louis van Gaal after a five-year spell

The Mexican international said he would respect his former club, but vowed to give maximum effort to help the Hammers start the season with a win.

Hernandez leads the attack for West Ham today, while Marko Arnautovic, Pablo Zabaleta and Joe Hart also make their debuts.

In the meantime, Nemanja Matic makes his debut and starts in the midfield for Manchester United alongside Paul Pogba.

Romelu Lukaku also makes his league debut for Jose Mourinho’s side, but Victor Lindelof, who also joined the club in the summer transfer window, is not named in the matchday squad.

Eric Bailly and Phil Jones will start in the heart of the defense, while Antonio Valencia and Daley Blind play in a flat back-four as Mourinho decides to ditched to the three-man backline.

Juan Mata comes into the side ahead of Ander Herrera, who is on the bench, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Marcus Rashford supporting Lukaku.

Mark Noble, who is playing in his 14th season with West Ham, captains the Hammers, while Pedro Obiang, Edimilson Fernandes and Andre Ayew start as well.
