United manager Jose Mourinho whose side comes into the tournament as the defending champion from last season, has decided to start both Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford today with Romelu Lukaku named on the bench.
There is a completely different backline from the one that started against Everton in the Premier League on Sunday, including the starting goalkeeper, as Sergio Romero comes in to replace David de Gea.
Matteo Darmian, Victor Lindelof, Chris Smalling and Daley Blind are in as replacements in defense for Antonio Valencia, Eric Bailly, Phil Jones and Ashley Young.
Michael Carrick gets his first start of the season in midfield and captains team.
The experienced central midfielder will play alongside Ander Herrera.
Meanwhile, Juan Mata starts in the No. 10 position with Henrikh Mkhitaryan not in the squad altogether, while Jesse Lingard will join up with the front four.
Luke Shaw is back from injury and is on the bench, so too are Marouane Fellaini and Scott McTominay.
For Burton, Luke Varney is among the starters and he leads the attack for the away team.
Experienced 35-year-old Lloyd Dyer along with Tom Flanagan, Hope Akpan, Jamie Allen and Joe Mason all start as well for the visitors.
