Two-time defending champions Miami Heat (48-21), battling with injuries, held off the challenges of Portland Trail Blazers (45-26) on their way to a 93-91 victory.

LeBron James led the Heat with a game high 32 points.

At the STAPLES Center, Blake Griffin put in another impressive workload, finishing with 27 points, 14 rebounds, six assists and three blocks in the win, as the LA Clippers achieved yet another 50-win campaign.

Elsewhere, Kevin Durant had 27 points and eight assists in leading the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 117-96 victory over the Denver Nuggets at the Chesapeake Energy Arena.

San Antonio Spurs (54-16) continue to lead the NBA standings overall after picking up another, following their 113-91 positive result over the struggling Philadelphia 76ers (15-56), who have now dropped 25 consecutive games.

While the Spurs were winning their 14th straight game, the Sixers found themselves one defeat away from tying the NBA record for successive losses set by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2010-11.
