DURHAM, N.C. — College basketball Top 25 schedule and TV channels for the games on Monday, January 23. No. 3 Gonzaga and No. 17 Duke are the ranked teams in action today.
After rallying to beat Miami at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Saturday, the Blue Devils (15-4, 3-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) remain home on Monday to play host to NC State (13-7, 2-5 ACC) here in Durham.
Game time is set for 7:00 pm ET and it will be live on ESPN with Sean McDonough, Jay Bilas and Allison Williams on the call. The game is also streaming on WatchESPN.
Duke used a 20-0 run early in the second half to storm back to beat the Hurricanes 70-58 after trailing by 12 points at halftime at the weekend.
Matt Jones led the recovery by scoring all 13 of his points in the second half on 5-of-5 shooting, including 3-of-3 from 3-pointers.
Jones, who was part of an adjusted starting lineup for the second half by acting head coach Jeff Capel, knocked down a pair of key 3-pointers to ignite the Duke run against Miami and picked up three steals during that period as well.
Freshman Jayson Tatum also played a critical part in the recovery win for the Blue Devils, scoring 12 of his 14 points after the break, as the home side shot 67 percent and went 63 percent from long-range in the second period.
Duke will take on a North Carolina State team that has won just twice in conference play this season.
The Wolfpack suffered a 93-88 defeat to Wake Forest on Saturday and have lost four of the last five games, as they continue to struggle with issues on both offense and defense.
Dennis Smith Jr. with 18.9 points to go with 6.6 assists leads five NC State players scoring in double figures this season.
Terry Henderson is averaging 15.0 points, Torin Dorn (12.1pts), Maverick Rowan (11.8pts) and Abdul-Malik Abu (11.4pts) with 7.3 rebounds are the other main contributors for the Wolfpack this term.
NC State v Duke Series
The Blue Devils won all three meetings against NC State last season and four in a row overall in this series since the last defeat in January 2015.
No. 4 Gonzaga v Portland
Third-ranked Gonzaga (19-0, 7-0 West Coast Conference) is the other Top 25 ranked team in action tonight and it will face Portland (9-10, 2-5) in a quick turnaround rematch.
The Bulldogs defeated the short-handed Pilots 73-52 on Saturday night to remain the exclusive unbeaten team in Division I men’s basketball this season.
While Gonzaga goes in search of its 20th win in a row, Portland is looking to snap a run of five straight defeats this season.
Tip-off time for this one is 8:00 pm ET at Chiles Center in Portland.
- Monday marks the 165th all-time meeting between Gonzaga and Portland.
