LeSean McCoy scored on a seven-yard touchdown off a pass from Tyrod Taylor to give the Bills the lead in the first quarter.

Carpenter then made field goals from 34, 43 and 44 yards to finish off the scoring and handed the Patriots (3-1) their first defeat of the season.

Starting quarterback Tom Brady missed the game again due to suspension.

He will return from his four-game “Deflategate” suspension in Week 5.

New England was getting shut out at home for the first time since 1993 when it was defeated 6-0 by the New York Jets on Nov. 28.

COWBOYS 24, 49ERS 17

Rookies Ezekiel Elliott and Dak Prescott both played a useful hand in guiding the Dallas Cowboys to a 24-17 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in another NFL score on Sunday.

Prescott, continuing to start for the injured Tony Romo, went 23 of 32 on completed passes for 245 yards and two touchdowns, while Elliott ran for 138 yards and a score for the Cowboys to overcome an early 14-point deficit to sneak past the 49ers.

With his team trailing 14-0 in the second quarter, Prescott, who is starting for Romo, who is sidelined by a back injury, threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Terrance Williams and a 4-yarder to Brice Butler to tie the game at the half.

Elliott ran for a short score to give the Cowboys a 21-17 lead in the closing minute of the third quarter, before Dan Bailey kicked a 22-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter to extend the gap.

Dallas (3-1) was winning its third straight game this season, after starting the new campaign with a defeat against the New York Giants.

Blaine Gabbert connected with Jeremy Kerley on a 33-yard pass for a touchdown, before Carlos Hyde ran into the end zone for a 3-yard TD to help San Francisco (1-3) get off to a fast start.

However, the home side was unable to take advantage of the quick and fell to its third consecutive defeat.

FALCONS 48, PANTHERS 33

Matt Ryan ripped through the Carolina Panthers’ defense in leading the Atlanta Falcons to a 48-33 victory on Sunday.

Ryan passed for a team-record 503 yards on 28 of 37 completed attempts and four touchdowns, while Julio Jones had 12 catches for a Falcons-record 300 yards to go with his one touchdown in the win for Atlanta, which handed the Panthers (1-3) their third defeat this season.

Meanwhile, Carolina quarterback Cam Newton went 14 of 25 for 165 yards and one touchdown before leaving the game in the fourth quarter with what appeared to be concussion symptoms.
