OSU Jamboree Cross Country meet delayed due to weather

STILLWATER, OK (Sporting Alert) — Persistent lightening and rain have forced a delay to the start of the 76th-annual Cowboy Jamboree here at the OSU Cross Country Course, in Stillwater, Okla.

Early flashes of lightening were followed by the predicted heavy rain, which now pushed the first race of the morning back by two hours.

Race organisers are now announcing that the opening race, the women’s college/Juco, will be at 10:30am, which initially was supposed scheduled to start at 8am.

four delays saw the races moved from 8am to 10:30.

“First race tentatively at 10am,” the race officials said.

But the weather has not forced the teams away, as everyone remains committed to race today. Weather forecast suggests that the lightening threats have now moved on.

The rain will continue throughout the day, but it’s cross country, so it is not expected to keep the races from going off.

“The rain is better than the boiling heat,” says one coach as he made his way to the official tent to get information.

So with the lightening and thunder virtually gone out of close range, the action at this year’s Cowboy Jamboree will begin shortly.
