Manning’s accomplishment also saw him bettering his own career high for touchdown passes, which was six before Thursday night’s contest. He finished the night with 27-of-42 for 462 yards and had no interceptions this time in his opening contest.

“Peyton had an amazing night,” Broncos coach John Fox said. “Peyton’s had a lot of amazing nights.”

Julius Thomas, who caught Manning’s first two in the  first half, was also full of praises for the experienced quarterback.

“He’s phenomenal. To continue to come out every year and put that kind of performance on for us, it’s amazing,” Thomas  said.

Trailing 17-14 at half-time, the Broncos outscored the defending Super Bowl champions 35-10 in a dominating the second half, but Manning admits that the hosts felt they had to score every time to keep the Ravens from building any kind of momentum.

“I felt like we had to keep scoring because Baltimore can score at any time,” said Manning, who became the sixth quarterback in NFL history to throw seven TD passes in a single-game.

He is the first to do so since 1969.
