Premier League Points Standings And Results: Apr. 11

LONDON, Sporting Alert – English Premier League points standings and results after the matches that were played on April 9 and 10.

Leaders Leicester City moved ever so close to winning their first Premier League title after blanking relegation-threatened Sunderland 2-0 on the road on Sunday, and leading striker Jamie Vardy netting both times.

The victory this weekend means the Foxes are now just three wins away from lifting the title this year, which would be the first in club history.

Leicester City are now on 72 points with five games remaining and the Foxes fans have revealed to being a little nervous as they head into the homestretch.

“I must have to admit that I would like it if the season was to get done today,” a club supporter said after Sunday’s road win.

“I feel like we will have enough to pull through, but I am nervous. At the start of the season, I would jump all over the idea of finishing in the top four and qualify for the Champions League.

“But if we don’t win the Premier League title from this position it will be seen as a massive disappointment.”

Meanwhile, Tottenham hammered Manchester United 3-0 at White Hart Lane to stay in the title race.

All three goals came in a crazy little spell for the hosts in the second half and they moved to 65 points, seven behind Leicester City.

Arsenal stayed in third, despite drawing 3-3 with West Ham United with Hammers striker Andy Carroll scoring a hat-trick on Saturday.

Manchester City kept their mathematical chance of winning the Premier League title alive with a 2-1 win against West Bromwich Albion.

In other results this weekend, Daniel Sturridge helped Liverpool thrashed Stoke City 4-1, Southampton picked up a 3-1 win over Newcastle United while Aston Villa fell 2-1 to Bournemouth.

Elsewhere, Chelsea suffered their first defeat under Guus Hiddink this season after losing 1-0 to Swansea City, Crystal Palace edged Norwich City by the same scoreline while Watford and Everton ended 1-1.
