LONDON, Sporting Alert – Here are the leading Premier League goalscorers after the list of games that were played in Week 33, Saturday 9 April and Sunday 10.
Leading the way at the moment are two English strikers and Three Lions supporters will tell you that this is the way it should be.
And by the way, the leaders are from the two teams closest to winning the domestic league title.
Harry Kane remains the Premier League leading goalscorer this season, despite not getting on the scoresheet this weekend.
The Tottenham forward leads the chart with 22 goals, one more than Jamie Vardy of Leicester City who netted twice in the 2-0 win against Sunderland on Sunday to move to 21 goals.
What a race this is shaping up to be for both the Premier League title and the Golden Boot honor.
Sergio Aguero stitched home a penalty kick on Saturday to take his tally to 18 goals this campaign.
The Manchester City forward moved up to third and joined Everton striker Romelu Lukaku on the same number of goals heading down the stretch.
Completing the top five this week is Riyad Mahrez of Leicester City who has scored 16 goals and, along with Vardy, is one of the main reasons Leicester City are marching towards the club’s first English Premier League title in club history.
Odion Ighalo of Watford has 14 goals, another Englishman Jermain Defoe of Sunderland has netted 12 times this season, the same number as Arsenal frontman Olivier Giroud, with Diego Costa of Chelsea and Gylfi Sigurdsson of Swansea City scorers of 11 goals – scratching off the top 10.
Rounding out the top 15 English Premier League goalscorers at this stage of the season are Southampton’s Graziano Pelle (10), Marko Arnautovic Stoke City (10), Alexis Sanchez Arsenal (9), Dimitri Payet West Ham United (9) and Troy Deeney Watford (9).
Shockingly, there are no players from Manchester United or Tottenham on the top 15 list, even with the chart down to single digits.
