(Sporting Alert) — The rebuilding Boston Celtics return to action on Wednesday night, as a number of teams continue their preparation for the new campaign with preseason games on the night.
Boston, who are coming off a 97-89 defeat to the Toronto Raptors on Monday night, take on the New York Knicks at Dunkin’ Donuts Center, with the game live on NBATV, MSG and CSNN, starting at 7:30 PM ET.
The Celtics will continue to be without the injured starting point guard Rajon Rondo, who reveals that he is looking forward to playing his part in the rebuilding project of a team he calls “my team.”
“I love it here. The fans are great here,” Rondo was quoted as saying according to Comcast SportsNet. “And [president of basketball operations] Danny [Ainge] has been straightforward with me. This is my team. Why would I want to leave? Why would I want out?
“I never really backed away from a challenge. This would be a challenge. I’m looking forward to working with coach [Brad] Stevens.
“It’s a brand-new start for us as a team. A lot of new players and a lot of young guys willing to listen, so I’m very excited about that.”
Also taking the court Wednesday night is last year’s NBA beaten finalist San Antonio Spurs, who opener their preseason campaign against CSKA Moscow, which defeat the Timberwolves 108-106 in overtime in their last game.
