DOHA (Sporting Alert) — Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti picked a 23 man squad for Thursday’s friendly football club clash with French giants Paris Saint Germain at the Khalifa Stadium in Doha.

Several regular first team players have been excluded, but Ancelotti still named a strong squad for the friendly game as he seeks to get a win to start the new year.

Amongst those missing from the traveling party are goalkeeper Iker Casillas, winger Gareth Bale and defenders Raphael Varane and Fabio Coentrao.

However, the likes of Xabi Alonso, Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Angel Di María, Sergio Ramos and Luka Modric, all made the trip to Qatar.

The game might be just a friendly clash, but PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is expecting a very exciting encounter.

“It is a big match between two great teams,” said Ibrahimovic. “It’s a great contest here in Doha and I hope it will help us prepare for 2014.

“Obviously we will be hoping to win this match.”
