TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Collin Sexton won the battle between two of the nation’s best freshmen against Trae Young, as Alabama beat No. 12 Oklahoma in the Big 12/SEC Challenge.

Sexton scored 18 points on 8 of 14 shooting with three rebounds and two assists in 32 minutes of action.

Herbert Jones, the other Alabama play with over 30 minutes on the court, added 14 points and shot 6 of 10 from the floor with five rebounds, three assists and two steals off the bench.

Braxton Key ended with 11 points, five rebounds and two steals for the Crimson Tide (14-7), who frustrated Oklahoma star freshman Trae Young with a terrific defensive display.

Young, who is averaging 29.6 points and 9.6 assists per game this season, and has scored 40 plus points in two of the previous four games before Saturday, was held to just 17 points on 6 of 17 shooting against Alabama.

He also dished out eight assists in the defeat and made four of his nine 3-point attempts.

Khadeem Lattin had 18 points on 8 of 11 shooting to lead the Sooners (15-5) and also grabbed seven rebounds with two blocks.

Rashard Odomes had 15 points and seven rebounds, while Brady Manek, who went 1 for 7 from 3-pointers, added 12 points and nine boards for Oklahoma, which dropped three of the last four games.

The Sooners entered the game on a high, following the 85-80 victory over No. 5 Kansas on Tuesday night, but were unable to build on that win.
