(Sporting Alert) — Jan Vertonghen has given Tottenham a 1-0 lead at half-time in their Europa League Group K game against Sheriff Tiraspol.
The defender headed home a pinpoint cross from Christian Eriksen in the 12th minute to give the English Premier League side the lead on the road.
Spurs was forced to make a first substitution after defender Zeki Fryers picked up a knock and had to leave the game after 33 minutes.
Striker Emmanuel Adebayor was named in the squad for Tottenham and has been busy warming up at half-time.
He could see some minutes tonight.
