LONDON (Sporting Alert) — Chelsea maintained their lead in the EPL table standings with a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace, while Newcastle United moved closer to leaving the bottom three with a 1-0 win against Leicester City on Saturday.
Oscar and Cesc Fabregas scored the goals for Chelsea, who moved to 22 points, five more than second place Manchester City (17), which hammered Tottenham 4-1, with Sergio Aguero scoring all four goals in the contest.
Southampton battered Sunderland 8-0 to remain in third place on 16 points, while West Ham United jumped into the top four on 13pts with an impressive 3-1 victory at Burnley.
Manchester United, which played West Brom on Monday night moved down a notched to fifth place.
Newcastle United beat Leicester City 1-0 to ease the pressure off under-fire manager Alan Pardew, but they still remain one point away from leaving the relegation zone.
Hull City moved up one place in the EPL table standing on 10 points, following a 2-2 draw at Arsenal, who also moved one place up to seventh on 11pts.
Tottenham’s 4-1 trashing at Manchester City came at a price, as the London club fell two-places in the table standing to eighth.
Burnley continues to struggle in their return to the top flight, as the newcomers are yet to win a game and sit one point from the base.
