SINGAPORE, Sporting Alert — Watch video highlights of Manchester United securing a 1-0 win over Inter Milan in their 2019 International Champions Cup game on Saturday.
Fine Finish By Mason Greenwood
Academy prospect Mason Greenwood jumped off the bench at the Singapore National Stadium to net the only goal of the game, giving Manchester United their third win in pre-season.
Greenwood, who also scored in the 4-0 win against Leeds in Perth a few days ago, was part of the numerous changes made by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after the hour mark and young forward was lively from the moment he came on.
The 17-year-old got his goal, which turned out to be the winner 14 minutes from time when he picked up a punched clearance by Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic, turned a defender before powering home a well-struck left-footed curler into the back of the net.
He had a chance to make it 2-0 moments later, but his effort off a cross from Tahith Chong hit the top of the bar.
Mason Greenwood – A Natural Finisher
“Mason’s a natural finisher,” Solskjaer revealed. “He’s practising, of course, don’t get me wrong. He just knows where the ball is going to end up and land sometimes.
“You get players like this and he’s a natural goalscorer. He’s only 17 but, then again, why not enjoy it? I know he’s enjoying himself, enjoys football and he is going to enjoy every minute he gets and he’ll get a few, to be fair.”
The conditions, governed by smothering heat and humidity, made it difficult for the players, but Solskjaer was happy with his team’s overall effort.

“In the first half, I thought we pressed really well and won the ball – it was just that final little bit was missing. Of course, in the second half, we got a goal.
“I was just thinking I like this, and think the boys were enjoying it, enjoying their football and what we’re trying to do. I think we showed what we’re about.”
