Wearing the armband today in the absence of the injured Steven Gerrard, Suarez took advantage of some sloppy defending at the back from Spurs to give his team lead.

Tottenham defender Michael Dawson failed to clear a ball from his area which allowed Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson to pick it up and sets up Suarez to run past the defenders before slotting in the bottom corner of the goal past the rushing Hugo Lloris.

The goal for Suarez was his 16th EPL league goal of the season and Uruguay international forward’s 13th in eight league games.
