(Sporting Alert) — Gareth Bale scored a stunning goal in the Copa del Rey final as Real Madrid beat Barcelona 2-1 at Mestalla on Wednesday night.

The speedy Wales international used his pace and strength to get by Marc Bartra in a remarkable play before finishing off the run with a poke past the advancing Jose Pinto, who was very disappointing in goal for Barcelona on the night.

Picking up a ball down the left hand side, Bale knocked the ball around Bartra, who had ran him off the pitch during the play, but unable to stop the former Tottenham forward, who went on to hold off the Barca defender and then beating Pinto.

Real Madrid took the lead in the 11th minute through Angel di Maria, but Bartra headed home the Barcelona equaliser in the 68th minute before Bale’s 85th minute winner.

Neymar almost netted a late equaliser for Barcelona, but his shot hit the post.

Real Madrid were without the injured Cristiano Ronaldo, while it was a game Lionel Messi failed to impressed in.
