Marouane Fellaini returns from his midweek suspension, but is set for a bench role, following an unproductive performance alongside Tom Cleverley in the midfield at Cardiff.

Captain Nemanja Vidic (concussion) also has a chance to face Spurs, while manager David Moyes could have right-back Rafael in his starting XI after the Brazilian recovered from an injury.

Wayne Rooney, Phil Jones, Antonio Valencia and Shinji Kagawa were all impressive against Leverkusen and are expected to keep their places, also Kagawa could be asked to play wide left again.

Tottenham suffered a humiliating 6-0 defeat to Manchester City in their last English Premier League outing, but bounce back with a  2-0 win over Tromso in the Europa League on Thursday.

Manager Andre Villas-Boas left ten first team players at home for Thursday’s clash, but is set to recall them all in the battle with the defending champions.

Striker Emmanuel Adebayor is a doubt for  the clash with a groin injury, while playmaker Christian Eriksen (ankle), defender Danny Rose (toe) are among those who will not play.
