MANCHESTER (Sporting Alert) — The English Premier League returns to action this weekend and the fixtures will kickoff with the clash between Manchester City and the undefeated Everton.
Manchester City will look to bounce back from their Champions League 3-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in midweek and the pundits are expecting a backlash at Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
Manager Manuel Pellegrini is yet to decide on whether he will start England No. 1 Joe Hart after the goalkeeper’s poor showing in the Bayern defeat.
“Of course he feels that he didn’t do very well [against Bayern], but I think he doesn’t have any problem. We hope he will recover from the game,” Pellegrini said. “Joe knows he must improve the way he is playing, but he knows he has our trust.”
Everton have started well under new manager Roberto Mancini, but will be without on-loan holding midfielder Gareth Barry, who is ineligible to face parent club.
On-load Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku has been bang on form so far and he’s been backed heavily to score again, following his double against Newcastle United in the last outing.
