WIGAN, Sporting Alert – Manchester United opens its pre-season campaign under new manager Jose Mourinho on Saturday against Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium and it will kick off at 13:30 BST (8:30am ET).
The match will be streaming exclusively live on MUTV Online, while TV2 Sport Premium and TV2 Sumo in Norway will provide live TV broadcasting. Follow live score on www.livescore.com
For those who will be on the road and won’t have access to any of the above platforms, live action will also be available via ManUtd.com’s live blog and the club’s official Twitter account @ManUtd.
Saturday’s game will be the second pre-season fixture for the Latics, who played to a 0-0 draw with Chester in their opening warm-up and manager Gary Caldwell is looking forward to the coming fixture.
“We had the opportunity when Man Utd came in an asked us for the game and I don’t think we could have turned that down,” said Caldwell, whose team will also face another Premier league side Liverpool in the next pre-season game.
“With the hype surrounding their club at the moment with Jose Mourinho taking charge of his first game, it’s good for our players to have that pressure in pre-season.”
He added: “It’s difficult to build that pressure up in other games, so I think it’s good that they’ve got these two games to look forward to.
“We’ve been working extremely hard for two and a half weeks now and we’re ready for these big challenges against two of the top sides in English football.
“It’s good to come up against managers of their stature, but it’s a friendly game at the end of the day, it’s not going to be a tactical battle, it’s for match minutes, especially for Man United and Liverpool.”
Manchester United returned to training this week under the watchful eye Mourinho and a number of top players are scheduled to be in action for the Red Devils.
The likes of Luke Shaw, Juan Mata, Ander Herrera and Ashley Young are all expected to feature.
