DURHAM, N.C., Sporting Alert — Amile Jefferson will not play for No. 7 Duke in Tuesday’s ACC battle with No. 9 Florida State because of the foot injury he picked up in the win over Boston College at the weekend.
Jefferson limped off the Cameron Indoor Stadium floor late in the first half with a right foot injury after landing awkwardly in the paint.
He went back to the locker room for treatment but returned to join his teammates in uniform on the bench midway through the second half.
However, the 5th year senior didn’t re-enter the game.
There were fears that the all-purpose forward who missed the last three months of last season with a broken foot might have reaggravated the same problem.
The bruise is on the same foot that broke last term, but Duke revealed after a scan on Monday that it was just a bone bruise in his foot.
Jefferson, though, will not be available to face the inform Florida State, which means the likes of Harry Giles and Marques Bolden, along with Chase Jeter, should get more playing minutes.
Associated head coach Jeff Capel, who is leading the team in the absence of head coach Mike Krzyzewski, said on Monday that the injury to Jefferson will be re-evaluated after the clash with the Seminoles.
Jefferson is off to an impressive start through 16 games on the season, averaging a double-double with 13.6 points and 10.1 rebounds for the Blue Devils (14-2, 2-1 ACC).
